Testimonials

"I was convinced at the time we set up the project that there would be real savings and efficiencies to be made. I am delighted to see now the results of the project which demonstrates how a lean approach can add great value to our search for better and more efficient ways of working"

Kevin Crompton, Chief Executive at Haringey Council, formerly Director of Children's Services at Solihull MBC

"Stuart Fisher and his team worked alongside our Fostering Team giving them the techniques and confidence to not only improve, but also sustain their valuable service to the community. Solihull is very proud that it can further enhance the safe and caring service to the children in our care"

Anne Plummer, Corporate Director Education & Children's Services at Solihull MBC

"It is TPG's opinion that Biomet UK, partnered with LT, has done the best job in our UK/European portfolio in their lean journey. We appreciate you working with Nils, one of our European TPG Operations leads, in sharing your successes and your journey"

Deb Conklin, Operations Adviser at Texas Pacific Group

"At Solihull when LT did the initial work the relationship they created with the fostering and adoption team was really positive, it was also very challenging to the fundamental way the service was delivered. I particularly remember at the feedback meeting, people were really keen and enthusiastic over what had been jointly produced with LT and eager to put it into practice. Reading this article,  it is so good to see the delivery of the promise of that meeting and such an improved service to our customers"

Katherine Kerswell, Group Managing Director at Kent County Council, formerly Chief Executive at Solihull MBC

"Detailed examination of the processes in place revealed that the origin of many was lost in time, and they did not support any existing requirement, either of customer or management. Removal of these processes, which did not add value, enabled the creation of a more effective and predictable environment. This was welcomed by staff and customers alike"

HEALTHCARE

William P. Thompson, Senior Vice President, SSM Healthcare said “It is estimated that there is up to 40 percent waste in the U.S. healthcare system. That is, services are provided that aren’t necessary, visits that aren’t necessary, utilising of higher levels of acuity that aren’t necessary, for example, using acute care when out-patient care would be satisfactory, or seeing a physician where seeing a physician’s assistant would be satisfactory. Ordering tests that aren’t used for  treatment. Unnecessary procedures”. (Quote taken from The Nun and the Bureaucrat, CC-M Productions, Inc. 2006).

Within the UK, we face a very similar situation with our own healthcare systems – perhaps arguably with additional concerns relating to wastes caused by communication gaps between the Primary and Secondary Care Trusts. The pressures the NHS will continue to bear of increased workload due to an ageing population, greater costs due to medical advances (in medical interventions, technologies and drugs) combined with increased expectations from patients, are not new.

However, the last few years have been characterised by generous funding increases and recruitment of tens of thousands of nurses and doctors. This golden age is coming to an end with the real pain starting in 2011.  When the next three-year spending period starts the pressure on government finances will mean overall spending will shrink and ambitious efficiency plans have been set – health must find £2.3 billion of savings in 2010/2011.

LT Consulting’s principle activity is the transformation of peoples’ lives for the better, through the improvement of an organisation’s performance – utilising our Lean, Leadership and Cultural Change expertise in partnership with our client organisations – the experts in Healthcare. Our focus is to transform the patient experience for the better by working with and through people to improve healthcare organisations’ performance and service delivery in a sustainable way.

We have a proven track record in transferring our skills and knowledge at all levels within organisations, so that clients can achieve self-reliance. In addition, we provide executive coaching and leadership education, cultural and strengthfinders analysis in order to provide a sound platform for leading people through change and building a culture that sustains continuous improvement.

By challenging the traditional ways of working, in partnership, we are confident LT Consulting can help Healthcare organisations improve the level of patient care and at the same time positively respond to the pressures that will be inevitably caused by the future reductions in Healthcare funding.
